Sweet Talk

12 great people. 4 grand desserts. Untold sweet conversations about the experiences that shaped us.

About 10 years ago, I, Galen Bernard, decided that when I retire I want to open a dessert & drinks spot. Oh, and be the grizzled ol’ coach of a high school baseball team. I love my work so much I now doubt I’ll ever retire. And I can’t say I’m grizzled enough yet to impart tough lessons to teenagers. But I decided to get an early start on the delight and connection I envisioned for that dessert bar.

Enter the Sweet Talk event.

You’ll enjoy a 4-course dessert menu that transports you to multiple countries at this time when travel is limited. And you’ll experience curated conversation about meaningful topics with small groups of great people.

Living here in CO, we’re aces at talking about our present experiences and our hopes for the future. But we often seem to overlook sharing our pasts. The flavors of life shaped us in core areas. I rarely get to hear about someone’s middle school experience or family traditions or first love. So this night is also for sharing those formative experiences.

Each month will have a new theme. We start with Creativity.

We’ll explore playful questions like which musical instrument you first tried to play (ukulele for me, though my parents just called it “four-string guitar” to keep my 8-year-old cred) and more poignant themes such as what environments unexpectedly make you creative.

And, it’s worth reiterating, all while reveling in four. courses. of. dessert.

All in a new hidden backyard venue on Tennyson St. with tables set up to allow for social distancing yet also rich discussion. We'll wind down between 9:30 and 10.

Come indulge in one sweet evening.

About Sweet Talk Creator & Chef Galen Bernard:

I’ve had a sweet tooth ever since the days when my childhood best friend’s mother called me “Skittles”. Thankfully, my tastes have evolved, though cinnamon apples are still a favorite simple pleasure. Now I’m known as “the fancy friend” as I seek culinary inspiration everywhere I go. I’ve hosted dessert parties, dinners, and popup bars that build bonds through delight since 2010. I’m a terrible person to be on a diet around, what with my propensity to randomly caramelize peaches in a reposed sauce. Not that I might do that for y’all or anything.
