Beyond The Book: The Overstory

There are many book clubs out there that either focus solely on the literary structure or themes of the book, or use the book as a reason to socialize and drop the book all together. This book club is unique in that the primary drive is connection with the book as the gateway. The books will be chosen by a different person each month, inspired by something within the person that is revealed through the choice, spurring discussion about the inner workings of all of us brought to life by the book itself.

Liz Tucker, is the mastermind behind this book club and she has chosen the March pick The Overstory by Richard Powers. This is a highly visible fiction book for its public awards and recognitions, but Liz’s draw to the book was a recommendation from a dear friend who said, “You’ll never look at trees the same way again.” The book is described as, “A gigantic fable of genuine truths … a stunning invocation of – and paean to – the natural world.”

Liz is new to Colorado and her primary drive for her relocation from Texas was to be closer to nature’s treasures. Liz is a pragmatic mystic who moves through the world by the beat of her heart. She believes in real conversations and deep inquiry that bring connection to life. As a yoga enthusiast, dancer, event producer, and transpersonal psychologist, Liz’s great love is sharing her passion for creativity and movement as potent catalysts for self-inquiry. Liz is also a published writer.
